GST Advisory and Compliance in India

Registration, returns, refunds, audits and anti-evasion defence: the full indirect-tax function under one partner-led roof.

Overview

Indirect tax that runs clean and defends well.

GST touches every invoice, and every mismatch is a future notice. We run registration, returns and refunds with discipline, handle classification and place-of-supply questions before they become disputes, and defend audits and anti-evasion proceedings when the department comes calling.

◆Businesses needing reliable GST registration, returns and reconciliation

FAQ

GST, answered.

Can you take over our monthly GST compliance entirely?
Yes. We run registration, GSTR-1, 3B, annual returns and reconciliation as a managed function, with input credit actively protected.
We have a GST show-cause or DGGI notice. Can you defend it?
Yes. We rebuild the reconciliation, contest the quantum, deploy a DRC-03 strategy where appropriate and represent you through adjudication.
In detail

The GST matters we see most, and what to have ready

Investigations and summons

Anti-evasion units of the CGST commissionerates and the DGGI issue summons under section 70 of the CGST Act to record statements and call for documents. A statement given under summons is evidence and is hard to withdraw later, so preparation matters more than speed. Voluntary payments in Form DRC-03 during an inquiry can reduce penalties but should be made on a considered view of the liability. See DGGI summons: what to do.

Notices, demands and appeals

Disputes are handled by our GST litigation practice. For how to answer a notice, see replying to a DRC-01.

  • Show cause notices for tax not paid or input tax credit wrongly availed; for financial year 2024-25 onwards these follow the common timelines in section 74A
  • First appeal to the Appellate Authority within three months of the order, with a pre-deposit of 10% of the disputed tax
  • Second appeal to the GST Appellate Tribunal

Cross-border GST

  • Import of services: 18% IGST under reverse charge, for example on fees to foreign artists, consultants and software providers
  • Export of services: zero-rated under a letter of undertaking, if the place of supply is outside India and payment is received in foreign exchange
  • Intermediary services: since 30 March 2026, when the Finance Act, 2026 omitted section 13(8)(b) of the IGST Act, the place of supply is the recipient's location, so services to foreign principals can qualify as exports; earlier periods remain a frequent point of dispute

Documents

  • GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B for the period, with reconciliations to the books
  • Invoices, contracts and proof of payment for the transactions in question
  • Copies of the summons, notice or order and any earlier replies
