Vijay Dhawan
Managing Partner of LexVerge. Chartered accountant, CFA and ACCA with a law degree from the University of Delhi, advising on cross-border tax across India, the UAE and the USA.
Vijay Dhawan is the Managing Partner of LexVerge LLP and leads its cross-border tax practice across India, the UAE and the USA. He is a chartered accountant, a CFA and an ACCA, and holds a law degree from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi. The combination means the tax analysis, the accounts behind it and the legal position are handled by one person rather than passed between three.
Before leading LexVerge he was Head of Finance and Tax at Lex Chambers, a New Delhi law firm, from 2019 to 2025, working on tax, finance and regulatory matters alongside litigators.
Practice focus
- The tax behind live entertainment. Withholding, treaty positions and GST on payments to international artists and sportspersons, and the structuring of tours and events in India.
- The India-UAE corridor. Indian founders and families setting up in the UAE: FEMA routes, place of effective management, UAE corporate tax and the treaty.
- When a structure fails. GST anti-evasion inquiries and summons, income-tax assessments and appeals, and forensic reviews of accounts for boards, investors and courts.
- India-US structuring. Entity choice for Indian founders, flips and reverse flips, and US compliance for Indian-owned companies.
How the guides on this site are written
Every guide in LexVerge Insights is written or reviewed by Vijay. Each cites the provision, rule or official source it relies on, is updated when the law changes, and says so where a point is unsettled or a number could not be confirmed. The guides are general information; advice on a specific matter starts with the facts.
